Trudi is a psychiatric nurse by background with over two decades of experience in drugs and alcohol work.
She has published articles and book chapters in both the nursing and specialist substance misuse field and is the co-editor of ‘Working with Substance Misusers: A Guide to Theory and Practice’ (Routledge 2002). This is a core text book on several accredited courses across the UK and was described by www.alcohol-drugs.co.uk as “our current bestseller... ...phenomenally useful….” Trudi's book is available through www.alcohol-drugs.co.uk.
Trudi has been providing training in substance misuse independently for the last 5 years as well as being employed in a range of nursing positions in several NHS Trusts in Wales and in the South West of England. She has worked as a senior nurse, specialist clinician, manager, researcher and part time lecturer. She has spoken at conferences around the UK and has organised substance misuse conferences in conjunction with partners from statutory and non statutory agencies.
Trudi has a degree in professional practice (mental health) from the University of Glamorgan, a Post graduate Diploma in health promotion from the University of the West of England and a Masters in Social Science Research Methods from the University of Wales, Swansea.
In her various employment roles Trudi has won a number of accolades including quality scholarships and National awards.
